Maine Nursing Home Abuse Attorneys
Serving the Entire State of Maine
Our elderly and incapacitated citizens are some of the most vulnerable people in our society. Families need to know that when they send their loved one to a nursing home, they will receive proper care and treatment. Yet, almost 1/3 of U.S. nursing homes were cited for abuse between 1999 and 2001. Fortunately Maine is blessed with many fine nursing homes staffed by dedicated caregivers who often work for low wages out of pride and caring for the people they serve.
When the rare instance of nursing home abuse or neglect does occur it is important that forceful action be taken to make sure that it is well known that such conduct will not be tolerated.
When the employees of a nursing home abuse or neglect its helpless patients, and/or fail to exercise proper care, legal action is often the appropriate course to put a stop to this conduct and insure that other patients are not subject to the same mistreatment. However, the existence of nursing home abuse or neglect is often not apparent to the casual observer. Loved ones who visit a nursing home, even if they are alert, may not notice treatment or mistreatment, which could be causing the patient indignity or physical suffering. Here is a list of warning signs that you should look for and which could indicate that something might be amiss in the care of your loved one
