A classmate of Don's at Harvard Law School, John was a litigation partner in a large downtown Portland law firm before joining Lowry, with a practice including copyright matters for ASCAP, construction, contract litigation, and family law. Previously, John served as president of Pine Tree Legal Assistance. He now works on special projects and cases with important or unusual issues.
A resident of Cumberland, John and his wife, Amy, have five children, all grown. John's community service includes the Maine State Bar Ethics Drafting Committee, the Portland Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors, and the Falmouth Zoning Board (chairman). John sings in all three ensembles of the Choral Art Society of which he is a founding member.
