The Lowry Team
Donald Grey Lowry, President

A graduate of Harvard Law School, Don has been practicing law in Maine for 45 years. Originally named Lowry & Platt, the firm was founded in 1971, and has been specializing in representing injured people since 1983, becoming one of the most prominent personal injury firms in the state.
Don has tried dozens of cases to Maine juries and once represented a client in a burn case which resulted in the largest personal injury verdict in the history of the state (since surpassed). A former prosecutor and criminal defense lawyer, he was a trial attorney for the defendant in the celebrated Lewisohn murder trial. Since he founded the firm's personal injury practice in 1983 Don has overseen the handling of thousands of cases on behalf of Maine citizens resulting in millions of dollars in recoveries.
An active participant in a variety of community affairs, Don is a founding member of the boards of PROP and Pine Tree Legal Assistance, both of which he served as president. He has also served on the Town Council and the Planning Board in Falmouth, the boards of directors of the Greater Portland Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Portland United Way and the Portland Symphony Orchestra. Don and his wife Betsy have 10 grown children and 19 grandchildren.
John W. Philbrick, of Counsel

A classmate of Don's at Harvard Law School, John was a litigation partner in a large downtown Portland law firm before joining Lowry, with a practice including copyright matters for ASCAP, construction, contract litigation, and family law. Previously, John served as president of Pine Tree Legal Assistance. He now works on special projects and cases with important or unusual issues.
A resident of Portland, John and his wife, Amy, have five children, all grown. John's community service includes the Maine State Bar Ethics Drafting Committee, the Portland Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors, and the Falmouth Zoning Board (chairman). John sings in all three ensembles of the Choral Art Society of which he is a founding member.
